How much is too much decor in fish tank? ›

The amount of decorations you'll want in your aquarium will depend on the type of fish you have but, as a rough guide, decorations should cover around 50-70% of your tank.

By the way, too many decorations for aquariums will bring bad impacts. For most fish, the ideal cover rate of decorations is 50-70 percent. If there are too many decorations, they will narrow the space and reduce the swimming room. And the fish will feel uncomfortable.

In order to keep aquarium water clean and healthy, you must help. This means taking care not to overcrowd the tank or overfeed the fish. It means changing some of the water regularly, cleaning the gravel bed and providing the proper filtration.

Too much oxygen in water can lead to the potentially lethal gas bubble disease, in which gas comes out of solution inside the fish, creating bubbles in its skin and around its eyes. (Excess nitrogen, however, is a far more common cause of this disease.)

Try not to disturb the fish, especially if they are in the aquarium. You're done! Only clean it when you see that it's dirty. Clean it every month or more often if it's dirty a lot.

Depending on the plants you have chosen and the height of the tank, a light at 100% brightness may be too strong and cause algae to flourish. Start with a lower light intensity around 20–40% brightness and gradually increase the intensity if there is no algae growth.
