Welcome to the 2022 Fantasy Football Week 6 Defense Stream-O-Matic!
According to Yahoo Fantasy Football transaction trends, the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns were the top three adds after waivers cleared.
After allowing 64 points to be scored by Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens and Aaron Rodgers' Green Bay Packers, the Patriots defense shut out the NFL's top-scoring offense in the Detroit Lions. New England has an interception in four straight and scored defensive touchdowns in two straight games. This week they head to Cleveland to try and contain Jacoby Brissett, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and Amari Cooper. Matthew Judon is tied for the lead in the NFL with six sacks and is second in the NFL with 17 quarterback pressures. Deatrich Wise Jr. has recorded four sacks and Jack Jones leads the secondary with two interceptions.
In back-to-back weeks the Ravens defense has limited Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills and Joe Burrow's Cincinnati Bengals to 40 total points at home in Baltimore. This week, they have to figure out how to stop Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley on the road. Marcus Williams and Marlon Humphrey have combined for five interceptions.
The Cleveland Browns have managed just one sack per game in each of the last three weeks. They will have to figure out how to generate pressure to force Bailey Zappe (or Mac Jones if healthy) into throwing turnovers on their limited pass attempts. New England runs a conservative offense and allows pressure on less than 14% of their dropbacks.
The #Browns have activated newly acquired LB Deion Jones off of IR. Which puts in in line to make his season debut with his new team against the #Patriots

The Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins were the most dropped defenses. The Vikings failed to have a big game defensively against Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears and have now allowed at least 22 points in four straight games. This week they face a speedy Miami Dolphins offense that could see Tua Tagovailoa return to practice this week, but is unlikely to play. Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out of their Week 5 contest early, leading to the NFL debut of Skylar Thompson - which did not go well.
The Dolphins defense is starting to show signs of weakness after a dominate performance against the Buffallo Bills. They have generated just three sacks in the last two weeks with no turnovers while allowing the Bengals and Jets to combine for 65 points. The Jets rushed for five touchdowns last week and now the Dolphins have to contain Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.
Stream-O-Matic Week 5 Results
While the results dont look super correlated, the Week 5 Stream-O-Matic scoring system ranked third amongst FantasyPros Expert Rankers! It just goes to show how difficult it is to predict defenses!
I hope this experiment can be helpful when deciding between tough options. Good luck!

Scoring
I use a traditional rotisserie scoring style commonly used in fantasy baseball season-long leagues to give point totals to each team.
Categories
The categories for the chart are listed below along with links to websites that I use to find this data.
- Rost%/Start%: Roster percentages based on Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues. This gives us an idea of who is available. This doesn’t factor into the standings.
- Location (Home): Generally speaking, defenses play better at home than on the road. A five-point bonus is given to all home teams.
- Vegas (Opp Implied): UsingVegas odds, the spread and over/under generate an implied points total for each team. This game score portrays what the game flow could look like and, therefore, which Fantasy Football defenses are in a good position to succeed.
- Pressure (Opp Prs%):Thanks toPro Football Reference, we have access to advanced passing statistics. I focused on pressure percentages allowed here which includes QB hurries, hits and sacks.
- DVOA: Probably the most popular tool for evaluating defenses, the DVOA efficiency ratings are utilized to give a strong baseline to the rankings.
- Proj: I used Yahoo Week 6 projections for this column. It is added as a bonus and not scored like roto for all the other columns.
